A dainty little bone buckle, based on the Alnwick Castle buckle. It was found in the castle's collection, so is without provenance, but like "viking age".
It's hand carved from cow bone, bronze pin (missing on the original), with the decoration back filled with a beeswax charcoal mix.
This would look stunning on a nice tablet woven braid!
