A hand forged wrought-iron blade, with a fire welded high carbon steel edge, and copies an example from Coppergate.
Blade length: 93mm
Width: 22mm
Thickness: 4mm.
The handle comprises carved antler, copying finds from Coppergate, and an Elm Burl end piece. The ring and dot decoration is highlighted with historical cutler's resin.
The sheath is vellum lined veg tan, creating a substantial case to protect the knife, based on DLS 10 from Dublin, Ireland. The hand tooled decoration is typical of Irish examples, and the moulded spine is found in Irish and English examples from the period.
As well as the cut out window, to display the knife handle, I've finished the tip with a bronze chape, providing support to the tip and additional decoration.
